SL Capital Partners appoints new Investment Director

4 August 2011, Edinburgh - SL Capital Partners ("SL Capital"), one of Europe’s largest and most active private equity fund-of-funds managers, today announced it is making a new hire to its investment team in Edinburgh.

Thomas Chevalier joins the team as Investment Director, bringing the total number of investment professionals at SL Capital to 20 comprising 16 in Edinburgh and a further four based in Boston, USA.

In his new role, Thomas will provide guidance on legal and regulatory issues, both internally and to clients. He will be an integral part of SL Capital’s deal teams as they invest and monitor primary funds, secondary investments and direct co-investments.

Commenting on the appointment, David Currie, Chief Executive of SL Capital, said:

"Thomas brings with him a strong legal background as well as a first rate knowledge of the current regulatory agenda. He will be an important source of expertise for us as we continue to grow the business and respond to these challenges."

Prior to joining SL Capital, Thomas most recently worked for Gazprom Bank in Moscow on a project where he helped set up an investment fund subscribed by pension funds, sovereign funds and high net worth individuals.

Prior to this he spent four years at Linklaters, LLP in Belgium, where he provided legal advice to international clients, including major financial institutions, companies, pension and private equity funds, REITs or private investors on multi-jurisdictional corporate, real estate and finance deals. He has also worked as an attorney for Clifford Chance, LLP, in the Banking and Capital Markets practice in Belgium.

He has an MBA from INSEAD and read law at New York University’s School of Law. He is a member of both the Brussels and New York State bars, and speaks fluent Dutch, English and French.
