We adopt a top-down and bottom-up philosophy, including detailed market mapping and investment origination, which divides Europe and North America. We then allocate resources to each country/region, seeking to uncover investment opportunities across Private Market strategies. This process has two components.
- 1. Review macro-economic, political and structural factors, as well as the Private Markets environment in each country or region.
- 2. Regularly meet all credible managers, intermediaries and vendors, identifying those with the potential to provide access to high performance.
As a result, we establish strong relationships, often ahead of an investment opportunity, and undertake detailed peer reviews for each potential investment. We also maintain a forward buy list of funds, generate co-investment, target secondary deals, strategic credit or infrastructure opportunities to create model portfolios and deal flow.
Private mid-market debt investment process
Our private debt team’s ability to source the most attractive deals is built on the deep relationships developed over many years as a private equity specialist. As a result, we can access a pool of deals constructed by Europe’s best private equity firms. In addition, our private debt team carefully follows the views of its private equity colleagues. The team analyses credit markets and reviews banking conditions and competition across regions to determine the best investment approach.
